>From andrewh@pyr.csuhayward.edu Fri Aug 10 13:49:00 1990 From: Andrew Hung Subject: DOD - 1936 to 1939 file Status: RO Ooops! Forgot to include the file... Well, this is a chance to see if the mail really works!! The description is pretty much self-explanatory, the minors information don't take into account their position on the chart which I don't have. BTW, does anyone remember which neutrals were controlled by either side and which are influenced...etc. I forgot to write them down! We made quit a few mistakes which might have changed the total scores. I'll note where these errors might have occurred!! Correct me if I'm wrong on any account, especially since I was on the Axis side only. Look like we need to give it another try. One more thing, here's the breakdown on initiative die rolls: die roll ratio win(after tie) 2-1 3-1 6-1 even ------------------------------------------------------------- Allies: 5(2) 1(0) 2(0) 0(1) 2(1) Axis: 10(3) 3(2) 4(1) 0(0) 3(0) total: 15(5) 4(2) 6(1) 0(1) 5(1) --andrew Clip here ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a summary of the result of Days of Decision: - 1936 - Jan/Feb Init. roll: 6(Ax.) - 2(All.) Russian production only increase to 1 if the NA pact was declined by Germany!! Can you check this out, Rick?? I believe Phil might have read the wrong card. This would mean that Russia could not have that high of a PM at all, which would certainly swing the victory point by a lot. ********************************************************************* Jul/Aug Init. roll: 5(Ax.) - 4(All.) German units may now enter German Home nation hexes west of the Rhine River(River adjancent to Dusseldorf). Add Rhenish factory to German total ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spanish Civil War won by Nationalist comments: Nationalist has a couple decisive victory on the Republican. Russia(Ken) can't be blamed for choosing Blitz vs. Def. in Depth as CW(Phil) never did bother to make any suggestion on tactic. Of course, if Republican has won then CW(Phil) would claim all the glory as he did in the end due to the mistake in interpreting the effect of Russo-German NA pact. I thought the Blitz would have won for 4 out of 7 of the defense stance. Perhaps a Feint might be a better option after studying the table since the max. loss for either side is 30%, yet I think the Republican needs a quick victory to swing the balance their way due to the lower amount of troop it has. - 1938 - Jan/Feb Init. roll: 5 (All.) - 1 (Ax.) Allies: 0 - involuntary Axis: 0 - voluntary US entry: 0, 0 minors: nil effects: nil ****************************************************************************** Mar/Apr Init. roll: 2, 4 (All.) - 2, 3 (Ax.) However, this doesn't make any sense as I recall that Allan has 5 US RPs. The only way this could have happened is that we(Axis) took the secondary option too. Correct me if I'm wrong. ****************************************************************************** Jul/Aug Init. roll: 2, 6 (All.) - 2, 1 (Ax.) I remember that the Allies took a second option which failed miserably. I think this is the point in which CW tried to use option 26 without satisfying the prereq. of it. CW ends up failing 3 times in a row(see below) on it, this could mean 3 options which might have affected everything. ****************************************************************************** Sep/Oct Init roll: 5, 6 (Ax.) - 5, 3 (All.) Allies: 0 - involuntary Axis: 0 - voluntary US entry: 0, 0 minors: nil effects: nil comments: I don't know what happened here, but I forgot to write down the Axis option taken. I guess it was option 0 since we(Axis) have used up most of the options already and didn't want the US entry to speed up any further. ****************************************************************************** Nov/Dec Init. roll: 5, 5 (Ax.) - 5, 2 (All.) I think we(Axis) would have won the General War, it would be a tough fight with both Poland & Czechoslovia being Allied Control. Still my Military Intelligent was at level 3, with at least 5 offen. chits. France would be in deep trouble with Spain on one side and me on the other. Japan would be in trouble though with the lack of resoures and non gear-up industry. However, the Med would be closed by the capture of Gilbrator. How long can CW last would depend on where the RP pipeline is placed. Russia is probably too weak to help (if we halved or even quartered its final RP), no RP can safely get thru to Murmansk since Norway, Sweden & Finland are control by us. US is in no shape to enter the war but China can easily attack Manchuria. We need to give this another try, perhaps with the same people playing the opposite sides. The effect with the Campaign Game is still unpredictable since the BPs are used for both buying units and playing options. I guess Phil is right about the Abstract Combat System, it's too much of a guessing game, unlike using actural combat charts.
