Roman Leaders

To choose the variant Roman leaders, roll a 20-sided die, re-rolling as necessary:

  1. A. Paulus (Lucius Aemilius Paullus) [ROR #19]
  2. Fabius (Quintus Fabius Maximus Cunctator) [ROR #2A]
  3. Flaminius (Caius Flaminius) [ROR #13]
  4. Fulvius (x) (Cnaeus Fulvius Flaccus) [ROR #7]
  5. G. Nero (Caius Claudius Nero) [ROR #3]
  6. L. Crassus (x) (Publius Licinius Crassus) [ROR #29B]
  7. M. Livius (x) (Marcus Livius)
  8. M. Minucius (x) (Marcus Minucius Rufus)
  9. Marcellus (Marcus Claudius Marcellus) [ROR #3]
  10. P. Scipio (Publius Cornelius Scipio) [ROR #1]
  11. Q. Crispinus (x) (Tiberius Quinctius Crispinus) [ROR #18]
  12. Scipio Nasica (x) (Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica) [ROR #1]
  13. T. Gracchus (x) (Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus) [ROR #25A]
  14. T. Longus (Tiberius Sempronius Longus) [ROR #25]
  15. Varro (Caius Terentius Varro) [ROR #20]
(x) = part of the expansion kit from THE GENERAL, volume 32, no. 2

If you LACK A 20-SIDED DIE, roll a 10-sided die and a six-sided die.
If the six-sided die totals 4-6, add 10 to the result on the 10-sided die; otherwise, use as is.
Re-roll results over 15.

If you LACK A 10-SIDED DIE, roll 2 6-sided dice.
If the first die is 6, re-roll it.
If the second die totals 5-6, add 10 to the result on the first die;
if the second die is 3-4, add 5 to result;
otherwise, use as is.
Re-roll results over 15.

The tendency of Avalon Hill and its writers to refer to Romans by the cognomen is very bad form.

Players of Republic of Rome may be interested in cross-identifying characters in that game.
